Could we just set up our personal camcorder and capture it ourselves?

You could, but we guarantee it’s not going to be a very memorable video.  Consider all the elements that need to go into a successful video recording: good cameras, microphones, lights, a durable tripod to avoid shaky shots, a steady hand for handheld moments, long-lasting batteries, someone to watch the camera so it doesn’t get knocked over by guests, professional editing software, an editor, a sound mixer, and a DVD burner.  That’s quite a lot of costly equipment!  In addition, don’t forget that your wedding video is something that you’re going to watch more than once.  If it has a poor picture quality, has bad audio, is too far away from the action, and is one static shot, you’re going to get bored, and never watch your special day again!

Will the cameras get in the way of everyone?

If the crew is professional, they know how to “blend in” with the scene.  At Charles River Media Group, we shoot “verite style,” meaning you won’t even notice we’re there but we'll make sure to get everything!.  In addition, when we work with our partner, Lukas Photography, we stay in synch and make sure not to step on each other’s (or your) toes. Our lights aren't blinding and you can trust in our professionalism.

Why should I choose Charles River Media Group for my wedding video?

We’re professional and creative, with years of experience.  Many wedding video companies exploit recent college grads or interns to shoot weddings.  It can be a roll of the dice whether or not you get the product you paid for and deserve.  We are all media professionals, and have worked with corporate clients including New Balance, The New York Times, and Harvard University. We won three 2008 Telly Awards for our cinematography and High Definition work.  Our style for weddings is classy and engaging, not cheesy and overly produced with silly graphics flying around the screen.

Why else should you choose us? Not only do we provide professional shooters, broadcast quality HD, but we also work closely (and provide discounts when you book) with Lukas Photography. Allow us to incorporate photography and videography into a fun and memorable DVD. Lukas Photography and Charles River Media Group know how to work well together so no one is stepping on each other's toes – which can be a problem as you walk down the aisle.

We also offer unique services such as Thank You DVDs and web compression. Why waste days or weeks of your life sending out generic thank you notes to your guests? We can film a simple thank you message from you to your guests and then mail out DVDs with highlights from the wedding and your message. Enjoy your honeymoon and newlywed status without the pressures of endless note writing!

How far will you travel?

We’ve traveled all over the country for our clients, so just ask us!

What cameras do you use?

We always use professional video cameras, including the Panasonic HPX500 and the Sony Z1U. If you're curious our cameras cost between $5,000 and $30,000.

Is it expensive to have a wedding video?

It doesn't have to be.  At Charles River Media Group, we offer a number of affordable packages for both Standard Definition and High Definition weddings, with the opportunity to customize each package to better suit your needs. Have financial constraints? Contact us and we'll see what we can do.

How can we ensure the best video quality?

At Charles River Media Group, we offer affordable High Definition wedding packages.  We can use broadcast quality cameras for your personal wedding. See our High Definition FAQ for more information.

Why should we pay for an edited version when we could just get the raw footage?

Are you, your family, or your friends really willing to sit through hours of unedited footage?  Most likely not.  While raw footage is a great way to keep an archive of the entire day, chances are you’ll much rather watch something that is professionally edited and highlights the most defining moments of your wedding. We specialize in an introduction and highlights montage that is engaging to watch. It's something that you and your spouse, and your friends and family, will watch over and over.

What if we just let our friend shoot a video for us?

Your friend is most likely there as a guest, not as a hired videographer.  He/She might be a little tempted to forget about capturing your special day once the open bar begins... or the Electric Slide is playing.

Why should we have a wedding video?

There’s no better way to capture one of the most special days in your lives!  Videos are long lasting, powerful ways to document your memories and share them with friends, family, and future descendants. Photography is considered a necessity and so should video. Video truly captures the event, what people have to say, how people talk and dance, everything! If you book us along with Lukas Photography you'll get a great collaboration and the best of both worlds.
