Could we just set up our personal camcorder and capture it ourselves?

You could, but we guarantee it’s not going to be a very memorable video. Consider all the elements that need to go into a successful video recording: good cameras, microphones, lights, a durable tripod to avoid shaky shots, a steady hand for handheld moments, long-lasting batteries, someone to watch the camera so it doesn’t get knocked over by guests, professional editing software, an editor, a sound mixer, and a DVD burner. That’s quite a lot of costly equipment! In addition, don’t forget that your wedding video is something that you’re going to watch more than once. If it has a poor picture quality, has bad audio, is too far away from the action, and is one static shot, you’re going to get bored, and never watch your special day again!
