Commercials and TV

Charles River Media has a long history of producing commercials and pieces of longer news and documentary content for a variety of clients, from small businesses and large corporations to streaming platforms and national television channels. This work has been seen on a variety of channels, including major networks like ESPN and the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) as well as internationally on Japan’s NHK. In fact, Charles River Media's founder Don Schechter’s early career included an internship at Dateline NBC, Production Assistance for A&E’s show, “God or the Girl,” and producing the documentary “A Good Whack” which was featured on MSNBC’s “Countdown with Keith Olbermann.” Since those early years, Don has gone on to direct or produce many of Charles River Media's television endeavors.

Media Placement

Part of Charles River Media's endeavors includes over a decade of partnership with National Media Spots. National Media Spots (NMS) is a leading media buying and planning agency that helps businesses reach their target audiences through targeted ad placements. By working with Charles River Media, National Media Spots is able to ensure that its clients' commercials are produced creatively and efficiently and we provide many of the placement services for NMS. The partnership between Charles River Media and National Media Spots is a powerful one, as it allows both companies to leverage their respective strengths to create highly effective campaigns. CRMG brings its expertise in content production to the table, while National Media Spots brings its deep understanding of media planning and ad placement. Together, the two companies are able to create campaigns that are not only visually stunning, but also highly effective at reaching their target audiences.

Documentary

But Charles River Media's expertise extends beyond just television. The company is also well-known for its work in film, with a portfolio that includes everything from feature films to documentaries. One of the earliest standout projects in our filmography is providing the Second Unit crew (including 2nd Unit Director) for the documentary, Transcendent Man, which tells the story of futurist and inventor Ray Kurzweil. The film received widespread acclaim upon its release, and was praised for its thought-provoking exploration of Kurzweil's ideas about the future of technology and humanity. Not only did our crew bolster the LA crew’s work but we were responsible for the theatrical poster photography.

Features

Since Transcendent Man, Charles River Media has also worked on a number of other film projects, including providing an underwater camera crew for The Arborist along with our studio for the theatrical poster photography session. The Arborist is a dramatic feature film about a grief-stricken arborist and her son who awaken a haunting when they begin felling trees at the estate of a mysterious recluse.

Ascendants and more

The Ascendants Anthology is a multi-format project including a collection of short films (and novel) that explores a society in the near future where proof of an afterlife creates a corrupt dystopia and where “It’s not the life you lead, it’s the blood you bleed.” Ascendants premiered at the famous TCl Chinese Theater in Hollywood and was featured in the Sunday Arts section of the Boston Globe alongside articles on Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, and Leonard Nimoy.
